This is just an experiment which turned out delicious. Usually a dessert called Thaen Mithai is prepared from Idli batter. Spoons full of Idli batter are dropped into hot oil, fried and dipped into a sugar syrup. I had Dosa batter on hand. Just added sugar, cardamom powder and some safron to it. Mixed it well and allowed it to stand for five minutes. Then dropped spoons full of the batter in hot Ghee. Deep fried to a golden brown and drained on a kitchen towel.
